DoubleClick was sold for $3.1 billion in CASH to Google. Google was able to fend off their main competitor Bill Gates and Microsoft, along with smaller foes Yahoo and Time Warner. After a deal this enormous it would be wise to assume that more movement in the online community is sure to follow.
ValueClick is known for popular brands offering advertisers and publishers performance-based solutions through online marketing channels. Commission Junction is the most well known affiliate network hosting retail giants Amazon.com and ebay.com. Other brands for Valueclick include vcmedia (advertising network), pricerunner.co.uk (price comparison), and mediaplex (adserving, email marketing, and paid search management). ValueClick is a valuable entity and will be gobbled up by the giants of the Internet. Expect the same players in the buyout of Valueclick, but this time expect Microsoft to walk away the proud new parent of a brand new company. Stock prices for everyone involved will rise, just as Google’s stock has risen since their purchase. So lets sit back and watch as the Internet grows ever smaller.
