Affiliate Marketing can be a great way to make money Online.  Everyday thousands of new people sign up with Affiliate Programs and Affiliate Networks hoping to make easy money.  Here are 5 mistakes that Affiliates make that hinder their money making experiences.

1) Take too Long to Design your Site

It is impossible for potential customers to navigate to your site when you haven’t even made it live yet.  Once the general design is finished and you have optimized the site for Search Engines, you should make it live.  This doesn’t mean that your website should be rushed to be put together.  Instead make the necessary changes, make it look and function well, and reveal it to the world.

2) Complacency Kills Websites

Affiliate websites, like all websites, cannot remain static for ever.  Content must be added and regular changes must be made to the site.  Search Engines and people alike, enjoy seeing an updated website.  If your site remains unchanged you will lose rankings in the Search Engines and you will drop regular visitors because of the lack of updates.   

3) Don’t Join Every Affiliate Program Under the Sun

Find merchants to promote that are related to your site.  It seems simple, yet oftentimes Affiliate sites are a jumble of merchant offers that are unrelated to anything on the rest of the page.  Locating merchants that fit in the theme of your site will allow you to target your visitors better, leading to more click-throughs and higher sales.

4) Just because you Built it, Doesn’t mean they will Come

If you cannot drive traffic to your site, how will you make sales?  That is all there really is to it.  Do not sit back and hope traffic will hit your site, because it wont.  There are many ways of drawing traffic to your sites, here are a few examples.

5) Make 1 Site Great … then Build Another

If you are new in Affiliate Marketing, you cannot expect to maintain 30 separate Affiliate sites.  While that example is extreme, as an Affiliate, you should perfect your first site before you begin building more.  Quality over Quantity.
