Is Your Affiliate Manager a Lame Duck?
Affiliate programs can be successful without an active Affiliate Manager running the show, but don’t expect the success to last long. Affiliates not only appreciate a full-time Affiliate Manager running the programs they are marketing, they need an Affiliate Manager to market a program successfully.
Affiliate Managers should take control of the program/s they are running and devote their time and energy into making the program a marketable commodity. Active recruiting, creating Affiliate Tools, incentives and deals for Affiliates, designing promotional devices, monitoring fraud and Affiliate support are tasks that are completed on a daily basis by an efficient Affiliate Manager.
I am hesitant to join programs with out a defined Affiliate Manager because I know that I am not a priority to that company. I know if I have questions to ask or if I need a custom tool or deal, that a program without an Affiliate Manager will not provide these services at all, or in a timely manner. Affiliate Managers make successful Affiliate Programs and complacency kills them. Next time you are looking to join a new program keep in mind that Affiliate Programs with slow response times usually means there is a lame Affiliate Manager or none at all.
