Affiliate Links in Newsletters to Customers

| Affiliate Marketing | Thursday 11 October 2007 6:50 pm

So you have just started a new email campaign for your Affiliate website and you have your list of email respondents. Now, what do you put in your newsletter/email?

My advice is simple. Don’t include a single Affiliate link and do not try and sell anything to your customer base when you first begin your email campaign. You need to develop relationships with your customers before you can begin selling to them. Not only that, but a reader will not open up a second email from you if all you tried to do in the first email was pitch them on some product they desperately needed.

Start off with offering free advice, and inviting them to visit your site. You don’t need 24 testimonials as to why your site is great. Just act professionally and work on developing relationships. When you offer advice be honest, whether it be product reviews, different methodology, etc. Keep your emails on a schedule and don’t disappoint your readers by skipping a scheduled email. Once you have developed the relationship, close the sale with an effective and professional presentation on your website. I can personally tell you that I will never make a purchase of anything from an email. I need to be convinced … so convince me.
