2007 Online Sales Grow 21% over 2006 Online Sales

By admin | January 7, 2008

Online retail sales grow 21% in 2007 over 2006.  Holiday sales for retailers grew 20% from October through December.  Reports indicate that the holiday sales numbers would have been higher if not for good weather in typically cold spot areas throughout the United States.

Thanksgiving Day sales grew 29%, Black Friday sales grew 22%, Cyber Monday sales grew 21% and Green Monday sales grew 33%.   Overall retailers should be very happy with online sales as they continue to grow strongly year after year.

Top retailers for the holiday sales period include Amazon, Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy and Circuit City.  In 2007, $123.1 billion were spent at online retailers compared to $102.1 billion.  Forecasters expect the numbers to continue to rise for online retailers in 2008.
