Is SEO a Necessity for Affiliate Marketers

Posted by Rambles | Affiliate Marketing,Search Engine Optimization | Tuesday 25 September 2007 7:58 am

Affiliate Marketers can bring in money in various different ways. Pay per Click, direct advertising, email, and through search engines.

The reason I choose the search engines is because it is free, and it is a long term strategy. I feel that pay per click affiliates can do very well using SEM, but it is short term and there is no safety net. A few bad weeks in a row and you might be looking for a day job.

Search engine optimization allows you to develop strong web pages and rank them for the keywords of your choosing. Much like SEM, you must use your keywords wisely and attempt to target your keywords to your selected audience. At least if you start ranking for keywords that don’t convert well, it won’t cost you.

By using SEO you can take advantage of holidays and other special events throughout the year. These occasions make affiliate marketers a lot of money.
One of the great SEO sources I have found is SEObook. It would be wise for you to check it out. Written by one of the leaders of the SEO industry, Aaron Wall, SEObook is very resourceful and won’t let you down. I use their free tools on a daily basis, and I fully recommend both their book and their tools.

SEO for Affiliates

Posted by Rambles | Affiliate Marketing,Search Engine Optimization | Thursday 30 August 2007 11:12 am

As most people know, organic searches are the best source of free traffic.  But how do you get your Affiliate site ranked well in the Search Engines, and for the terms you want to rank for?

Sorry to say there is no easy solution.  Quite a bit of grunt work is necessary, but it pays off in the end.

Creating a link building strategy is the best way to gain authority in the Search Engines.  You must get other sites to link you with your keyterms as anchor text.  This is not an easy process, and it surely isn’t exciting, but it will provide you with many visitors to your site as the Search Engines display your site.

Your task for today if you are disappointed with your Search Engine rankings, go out and find some link partners.  Send out at least 20 requests today to linking partners.  If you build it, they will come.

Google Search for Small Businesses

The new service offered by Google is called “Google Custom Search Business Edition” and is a middle ground between Google’s Custom Search Engine and Google Search Appliance.  The new application will cost $100 and requires three minimal steps before visitors can begin searching for information.

People can search 5000 pages deep for a particular site for the $100 fee.  For $500 you can search 15,000 pages deep, and the scale continues sliding to the left.  The data is offered from the same computers that run normal Google searches, essentially offering a collection of information that Google has crawled for their normal search engine.

This search engine is being marketing towards small businesses that require a lot of information at their fingertips.  It is also an effort to phase out Google Appliance which costs $2000 and isn’t very effective.

Vertical Searches are the Future

Vertical Search Engines are being utilized more than ever, and yet they still are just a fly on Google’s back. But not for long.

Vertical Searches allow the user to find a targeted listing for the search term/s entered. Vertical niche searches can allow the user to apply advanced settings related to their search to find the best possible match. Two industries where vertical search engines have taken off are the HealthCare and Engineering industries.
